Road Testing:
When can I take my road test?
You can take your road test when you have had your White
Level 1 License for at least 6 months and have completed Segment 2 OR
when you have had at least 30 days on your Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP).
Can I take my road test if I am under 16?
Yes you can, as long as you have had your White Level 1
License for at least 6 months and have completed Segment 2. But you CANNOT get
your Level 2 license until you have turned 16.
What if I am 18 or older?
You have to have your Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP)
for at least 30 days but not more than 6 months OR have it waived for 30
days. You can receive this by going to the Secretary of State and either taking
a written test or getting it waived.
Do I have to make an appointment?
Yes, there are specific days and times that we offer.
How do I set up an appointment?
Please call our office at (810) 743-8217 between the hours
of 1 and 5, Monday thru Friday to set up a road test appointment.
What days do we usual do road testing?
We offer road testing on weekdays and weekends. Please call our office for
official scheduling.
What does the road test consist of?
There are 2 portions to the road test, a parking lot portion and a driving portion.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes, there is a partial credit, usually $5-$10, if you don't pass the
parking lot portion. But there is no refund when you go on the driving portion.
Segment 1:
What is the earliest age I can start Segment 1?
You can start it as soon as you turn 14 years and 8
months.
What is the latest age?
There is no maximum age for Segment 1. Anyone, any age may take this class.
When can I start driving with my parents?
You can start when you get your White Level 1 License from
the Secretary of State.
Segment 2:
When do I take Segment 2?
You are allowed to start Segment 2 when you have possessed
your WHITE Level 1 License for at least 3 months.
Can I take my road test right after I have completed
Segment 2?
Yes, as long as you have had your
WHITE Level 1 License for at least 6 months. If not, then you have to wait.
Adult Driver Ed:
When can I take the classes?
You can take the classes whenever we hold one which is
monthly.
Is there an age limit to take Adult Drivers Ed?
No there is not.
What do I need to have to take Behind-the-Wheel
Driving?
You need to have your Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP),
which you can obtain from the Secretary of State by taking a written test and a
vision test.
Do I need a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) to
take the classes?
No you do not. But you do
need a TIP to do any practice driving with Major Driving School.
